Project Overview

Expansion of Reitan’s Office and Central Warehouse in Horsens

The project involves a significant expansion of Reitan’s office and central warehouse in Horsens, featuring the construction of a high-tech, robot-controlled returns and dry goods terminal, as well as additional warehouse halls, administrative areas, office facilities, and parking spaces, covering a total of 46,000 m².

Facility Details:

  • Main Functions: The facility will serve as Reitan’s major central warehouse and head office for Denmark.
  • New Structures:
    • A 17,000 m² returns terminal.
    • A 29,000 m² dry goods terminal with a height of up to 35 meters. Both terminals are fully automated and equipped with robots and self-driving shelves.
  • Additional Buildings: A 220 m long distribution building, partially two stories high, featuring 40 loading docks.
  • Site Development: Approximately 50,000 m² of roads and paving areas.

Green Energy Initiatives:

  • Energy Efficiency: The construction emphasizes energy efficiency, with the dry goods warehouse becoming energy self-sufficient, and even producing surplus energy.
  • Solar Power: One of Denmark’s largest rooftop solar installations, spanning 20,000 m², is installed here. The solar array is capable of generating enough kilowatt-hours to power a small village of 800 homes.

Green Space:

  • Soil Reuse: Excavated soil is repurposed to create an earth mound surrounding the new development, which now extends over a total area of 500,000 m².
  • Public Green Area: Behind the earth mound, on the northern side of the property, a large green area will be established, featuring walking paths, a fire pit, and a playground for the community.
