Our services

In connection with the implementation of the National Water Plans, which are part of the Nature Protection Act, Varde Municipality sought to investigate the possibilities for ensuring fish access upstream of the weir at Linding Mølle.

Project Overview

The project was commissioned by Varde Municipality with funding support from the Danish Nature Agency under the river restoration initiative RIB-00208.

The preliminary study indicated that constructing a bypass was a cost-effective solution, and there was landowner support for the project. Consequently, in 2015, a bypass channel approximately 420 meters long was excavated in the § 3-protected watercourse Stokbæk near Linding Møllesø, Varde.

The bypass channel compensates for a 2.5-meter drop from the dam at Linding Møllesø. It was designed with spawning beds and resting pools with a bottom width of 1 meter.

The project was completed on schedule and within the established budget.

Subsequently, spawning salmon have been observed in the bypass channel.
